Viewing an Open House
Poor drainage:
On a wet day walk around the yard and look for areas where water collects.
This can be an especially bad sign if there are soggy areas near the
home's foundation. The lawn should be sloped away from the house. This
encourages rain and water to flow away from the foundation. Excessive
moisture can cause cracks in a home's foundations. Also, look at the
drainage ducts on the roof of the home are they clear from obstruction.
Are they in need of repair? Halifax receives a fair amount of rain these
are important considerations.
